Information we will need to know about you and
your horse.
Horse Owner / Rider
Name, Address, Telephone number, Mobile number, Height, Weight, Riding discipline, Level of experience in riding, your budget, likes & dislikes.
Horse
Name, Address of yard (postcode essential), Age, Breed / type, Condition, Level of work & fitness, Previous / Current injuries, Current vet & physiotherapist, Current saddles details - make, model size, any issues, likes, dislikes.
Step 1
Call or visit the shop to book a call-out.
We always strongly advise that a visit is made to us at the shop where you will be a able to view our vast selection of saddles and indeed have the opportunity to sit in them. This is not necessary if you are simply requesting a check of your existing saddle.
We will start to complete a ‘fit sheet’ on you and your horses requirements.
Step 2
With the horse standing square checks will be made for any existing white hairs, lumps and sores, condition and confirmation features and back sensitivity.
Templates and photographs of your horse will be taken – over time this allows us to monitor the weight and shape of your horse to ensure your saddle remains a good fit.
The horse will need to be seen in walk, trot and canter and jumping if required.
Step 3
If your appointment is for a saddle fit you will be able to ride in a selection of saddles that have been identified as being suitable for your needs and your horse from the information given initially by yourself.
Advice will be given as to what is the best course of action for you to take either with your present saddle or in purchasing a new one.
Step 4
Using the information gathered on the appointment the appropriate saddle will be ordered or made to your specific requirements or the necessary alterations made to your existing saddle.
A deposit will be required. As saddles are predominantly hand made - you may need to expect a little wait!
Step 5
Once your saddle is completed arrangements will be made for you to collect your saddle or if a new saddle has been purchased a further appointment made for delivery. All saddles should be checked every 6 months to ensure a continued good fit for you and your horse. New saddles should be checked 6 -12 weeks after being initially fitted.
Points to Remember
The saddle will be fitted to the largest rider - if there is more than one required.
The main rider must be present at the fitting.
Saddles cannot be fitted to a lame or unsound horse.
Stirrup leathers, irons and girth must be available, as must any numnah or pad currently being used.
A safe flat surface in a well lit area is essential.
Whilst we give projected times for visits we cannot guarantee exact times, but we will do everything possible to let you know if we are running late.
